History of Air India Express

Air India Express was founded in the year 2004. It started its services on April 29, 2005 with is initial flight taking off from Thiruvananthapuram to Abu Dhabi. In February 2007, the Indian Government accepted plans of Air India and Indian Airlines merger, which finally came into effect on July 15, 2007. The newer company formed and fashioned by the merger of two giants came to be known as “Air India”.

Started as a mere charter unit, Air India Express, has slowly and gradually emerged as premier low cost carrier of India.
