History of Emirates

This particular airline was launched by the government of Dubai on May 25, 1985. It commenced its services with flights to Mumbai and Karachi. Flights for Delhi were started in 1985.

In the beginning, Emirates leased two aircrafts PIA (from Pakistan International Airlines), namely Boeing 737-700 and Airbus A300. Later, two more advanced aircrafts Boeing 727-200 were added to the fleet. Emirates extended its routes to Europe in year 1987, with its first flight to London. It started its operations to Singapore in June 1990. On July 28, 2008, Emirates received its first Airbus A380.
