Jet Airways commenced its domestics operations in the year with a just meager fleet of just 4 Boeing 373 – 300 airplanes. Under the guidance of its owner and chairman, Mr. Naresh Goyal, today Jet Airways is a full-service scheduled airline and holds a neck to neck competition with country’s owned Indian Airlines. In year 1995, the airlines started its international operations with its first international flight to Colombo. In May of 2009, the airlines launched Jet Konnect, another low cost carrier, using spare aircrafts from Jet Airway’s routes that were stopped due to low passenger load factors. Jet Airways was badly hit by recession of year 2009 which led to lay off about 1900 staff members. However, later on they were recruited back, but Jet Airways had to discontinue many of its international bound flights.
