Kingfisher Airlines commenced its operations in the year 2005, with 4 Airbus A320-200 aircrafts on lease. It’s also the first Indian airlines to order for the big aircraft Airbus A 380. The airline started its domestic operations in July, 2005.

Kingfisher Airlines decided to merge with Air Deccan on December 19, 2007. But it actually came into effect in April, 2008 and was renamed as Kingfisher Red. Vijay Mallya, the chairman of Kingfisher Airlines announced airlines alliance with Jet Airways on October 13, 2008.
